   Pakistan and West Indies were to feature the first quarter-final of the ICC World Cup 2011. As compare to West Indies, Pakistan were a better and a well-balanced side, with some strong batting and lethal bowling attack. Besides, nothing was much to be mentioned about West Indies as they were already playing without some of their key players and had lost two of their previous matches to England and India in a row. For this reason, they were never looked comfortable against Pakistan and got bundled out for just 112 runs. Pakistan won the match chasing 113 runs without losing a wicket which was a remarkable performance by their bowlers restricting the West Indians to just 112 runs. Both the Pakistani openers got good scores and it was good to be scoring runs just before the semi-final which they were to play either against arch rivals India or four times world champion Australia. Consequently, they had to wait for the result of the second quarter-final which was to be played between co-hosts India and the mighty Australian team. This was for sure that Pakistan will face a tough competition in the semi-final, whether they play India or Australia. Nevertheless, a 10-wicket win in the all important and ofcourse knockout quarter-final was enough to boost their confidence. Pakistan was expected to play in the semi-final with a lot of promise and confidence which they have been carrying with them after they were able to beat co-hosts Sri Lanka on their home ground.
