Hi, You did not give me a model number, so I can give you only generic information. ONE: Stretched tape is mostly caused when the mechanism is out of adjustment or the feed reel is stuck in position. TWO: If you can get inside, look for a foreign object that may have gotten stuck inside; paper clip, hair pin, pencil eraser, etc. THREE: Check other cassettes; if you are using off-brand, inexpensive cassettes they will often be out of spec and jam up inside. FOUR: In the worst case it could be a defective motor, solenoid, sensor or some other damaged part. FIVE: Unfortunately, the repair is always more expensive than a new vcr. For example, the typical shop has a minimum charge of $50 to $65. But, you can purchase a new vcr for $29 and up. Nearly all the Sylvania (made by Funai and Symphonic) have extra a/v inputs. If you purchased a new vcr it would connect to your tv if it has those a/v inputs.
