My onkyo tx-ds656 is sending a constant tone through my speakers. how do i get it to stop?

i doesnt matter if i have anything hooked up to it or not, it still sends out a tone. if i play music the tone stays and just gets drowned out by the music.

    Are you using another sound source such as a cable box or cd player. Is this to a second zone?
