My Toyota Corolla 2002 temperature gauge got stuck at one place. What can be the reason?

I washed my car yesterday and after that time the temperature gauge of my Corolla 2002 got stuck at one place. I don’t understand the reason of this problem. Can someone tell me that what could be reason of this issue?

    It might be a wiring fault. My be the current wire was necked and it got connected with the body of car. You better take your car to some electrician and check the temperature gauge wiring.
