My LaCie 1TB Big Disk Extreme+ does not show up on my Mac destop any longer.

I have swapped power supplies and fireware cables. The disk is not recognized by the Mac. I am running OSX 10.6.2 for several months. The problem started last week while a backup was running.

The Fireware Hardware indicates that it is an "unknown device." What to do now?
