I have a big album looking thing that is suppose to be a movie of some type, it says (capacitance electronic disc system) and it's my fair lady. My sister in-law found it in her house when she moved in and was going to throw it away so I told her I would take it, I was just wondering if it was junk or if it would be worth any kind of money.

The Capacitance Electronic Disc(CED) was a video playback system. It was developed by RCA, in this method the audio and video can be played by using a special analog needle on TV. It is a high density groove system which is similar to the phonograph records. It was first conceived in the year 1964, the CED system development was a technological success which was able to increase the density of long playing record by the two orders of magnitude. Although it was a big achievement, the CED system due to its poor planning failed to achieve success in the market. There were many technical difficulties and conflicts within the RCA which lead stoppage of its release until the year 1981.
The format was known as “videodisc” and it also created a conflict and confusion along with Laserdisc format. Laser Beam were used to read the Laserdisc. On the other hands CED videodiscs were different from normal gramophone records. These two systems were not compatible with each other. The shape of the pictures on CED are circle shaped rather than the size of the disc.
