It is not unusual espically if your daughter is highly active. I actually had a friend who did not start hers until she was 19. This was due to her low body fat and high activity. Also they are starting to say that if your intake of hormones is lower then you will start your period later. ( like from many hormones in eggs, meat, milk to enhance the growth rate of the animals that produce them) so if your daughters diet is very healthy this could also be a factor.

Yes. Actually, the latest average age is 15, but i have also heard situations of 16. I am turning 14 tomorrow and I just got my period for the first time 2 days ago. You have nothing to worry about :).

Its competley normal, each girl starts at a different time, but mabye its to do with weight, if shes under 7 stone then mabye theres a problem (according from experts), but if not she will eventually start. See Im 11, and I already know this, I thought you would know!

I am 14 and have not started my period. There is nothing wrong with me, it is all genetics. i take after my mom who did not start until the age of 16. Explore the history of the females in your family and the fathers history. It is most likely her genes. If you are still concerned, take her to a female doctor.

sometimes i have wondered if i am normal as well since everyone seems to be farther along then me. However i have done some research and you should not be concerned unless you have not started your period by 16 or 17.

I am 15 at the end of the month, and I started mine in March. My Mum started a week after her 14th Birthday, so I knew it had to come sometime soon. Don't worry about it. My Mum even went to the Doctor behind my back and asked if it was ok, and the Doctor said it was perfectly fine, but if I hadn't started in 6 months then to go back and just check everything was ok... just in case. 4 months later I started my periods. I had a chat with my Mum about it and she got me some sanitary pads just in case. 5 days later, I started my periods. These things happen when they need to, but I think your body lets you know it's coming... You can't tell me it was coincidence I started 5 days after I got the pads?! Hope this helps.

Yes that's normal. Some girls start at 9 some don't start until they're 18.

Guest3049

Didn't start mine until I was 15, and some don't start until they're 17. Don't worry about it, and be happy she's still free from all the pain and annoyance of menstruation.

i didnt get my periods until i was 15 and i didnt really think much of it. She might have started and just not told you... my mum was away when i started mine and when she got back i just 'forgot' to tell her (there kinda wasnt an opening for the convo :P) maybe she just didnt think it was a big deal?

Every girl is different. I got my period at age 16, my mom was 14 and my maternal grandma was 18. My sister in law was also 16.

Speak to her about it now. Let her know what to expect, buy her some pads, and show her how to use them. You don't want her to freak out when it actually happens. If your 8 and 10 year olds are female talk to them too. Some girls start their period around 10 or 11.

I wouldn't worry about it until she is about 16. Is she very thin? That is the most common cause of delay. If you haven't talked to her it is possible she started and just doesn't discuss it with you. I had my period for 3 years before I told anybody. Really its a blessing if she starts late.

whats "normal"? my mother didnt start till she was 18, then again that was a long time ago and the avergae age has come down greatly. why? is subject to debate, perhaps due to exposure of socially sexual programmes on tv? perhaps better nutrition? stress of modern life on your people? (one reaosn not to act like anyting abnormal is happening to her) or it might be a combination of these. either way 14 is still within the average or "normal" range of western young women. either way there is no evidence to suggest that the onset of periods correlates to any difference is adult form. so either way dont sweat it and certainly dont make her feel you are worried about it. might wnat to consult a proper physician.

Yes it is, don't worry. Both me and my mother didn't get our periods until we were 16. So don't worry

I didn't get my period until about 2 months after I turned 14, and the doctor said I was perfectly normal, so don't worry about it. My friend's mom didn't get hers until she was 16. Good luck. xoxo Hannah

It's not uncommon. She may have a doctor put her on birth control pills to help regulate her hormones.

Guest5150

everyone is different. usually if a girl is really active then they will start their period later. if you got your period later she will also get it later. she is probably feeling the same way you are at the moment so dont pressure her about it or anything.

I got mine a week before my 14th birthday last year. She'll get it. But if you're really worried, have her checked out my a doctor.

My daughter just stareted at the age of 12. While this may be more statistically typical, there is still nothing wrong about not staring one's period at the age of 14. Before you take any other action, look at your family history (females on both your and the father's side). What is the pattern there? Second, the later she starts her period, the taller (family genetics aside) she will likely be, because once the period starts, the growth hormone is drastically reduced. This is not a reason of course, but a consequence. Third - examine your origin. Women from (ex.) Mediteranean region tend to start menstruating earlier than (ex.) those with Scandinavian ancestry. But if you feel uneasy about the situation, have your daughter consult a medical professional who can (for example) discover a hormonal imbalance and correct it. Good luck - a concerned father of 2 daughters and a son of a pediatrician and a gynecologist, if you wonder why I am addressing your question.

Every one develops at diffrent times. If it worrys you to much you can go to the doctor, she may need medication which makes her get the regularly/start. Talk to her about it, she may have got it already but has not told you and been borrowing pads from friends.

Guest5979
Guest5979

that's completely normal! her period might not start until she's 16. my friend's sister is 15 and her period hasn't started yet. some people's periods just come later than other people's. loads of your daughter's friends probably haven't started yet, don't worry.

her period will probably start within the next year. be prepared by buying some sanitary towels ready.

xx

i've got 3 sisters. and they all started there periods at ages between 9 and 13. I started when i was 15. also didn't think its normal at that stage, but i turned out pretty okay. I think it depends on how your body develops, not one girl is the same. if it would make you feel better talk to her about it and maybe get it checked out.

Very normal It might not happen till 18. Do not worry and let them grow up by them selves.. Nothing has changed fir the last 30 years or so.

its not average, but i wouldn't schedule surgery about it yet. i know a girl who was 16 when she got it. when did you get yours?

Guest2897
Guest2897
earlier

Yes it's normal. My cousin is 16 and still doesn't have hers yet. Her mom took her in to the doctor to inquire about it and they said that it's completely normal. Especially if the child in question eats a lot of "organic" foods. Now are regular fruits, veggies and dairy have so many hormones on them that that's what is causing a rise in girls starting puberty so early.

I envy her I started at 9 and was teased so much for it.

Have a Great Day!

when did u start yours?

she can start from 10-18

its not unusual, as a mother you should know that
