   I actually have a similiar question but don't see the question asking box.. I am not legal yet in another state until I see a certain legal person to discuss my situation and get answers..I am back and forth between states have two addresses a primary covers my insurance, and am in and out...I don't know what to do, or who to call because it's a private matter and so the answer has to be answered by a legal person nobody supervising my situation is caring about my questions or concerns so I don't know what to do.. I want to do the legal thing..and am concerned..I should be legal in another state by 1/21 when I see this legal person who is supervising me persay.. My doctors will remain in the present state I'm in and have been told they take my new state ( when legal insurance..)and the pharmacy as well I talked to tonite..I am really bazaarly incredibly concerned..Anybody know the medicaid guidlines perhaps this will help me...to figure out what to do.. Thank you..

   Hi, If either of them are eligible for Medicaid under SSI (supplemental Security Income), then their eligibility will transfer to Kentucky with no problem. This is the program for people who have no work history for at least the last five years.) All that will be necessary is to request a transfer of case to Kentucky thru the SSA. This is a federal entitlement and it will transfer. If they are receiving SSI, for sure their checks will be less b/c Cal. supplements the government benefit because of the cost of living in California. If either of them are eligible under a state program only, then it gets a little trickier. Kentucky may not offer the same program that California does. If Kentucky does not have a similar program, then they may lose their Medicaid. So here is what to do: 1) Find out what programs under which they are eligible 2) If it is SSI and Medicaid, then call the Social Security office and ask that their case be transferred to Kentucky once you have made the decision to relocate them. It usually takes 30 days to complete the transfer so it is best to to this at the first of the month so they will not be delayed in receiving any checks. 3) If they are eligible under a state program, then get the name of the program and call your local Medicaid office and ask to speak to a SUPERVISOR. Explain the situation and ask if there are similar programs under which they will qualify in Kentucky. You will need the amount of their checks and any resources that exist in each of their names. They are not required to be a resident for any length of time. The fact that they are physically present with intent to reside and an address will be sufficient evidence of residency. You will need to prove address, however, such as a forwarding order from the post office. Best wishes
