I have a yorkie with a ruptured cornea. Though completely blind, the eye is healing with antibiotics and a topical medication. Once the antibiotic treatment is done, the vet is recomending to have the eye removed. To spare him from any further pain and complications, I know it must be done. Like most people that I have read about, I struggle with the thought of him having nothing where his once beautiful, espressive eye was. To me, it seems like half of his face would be gone. I heard about prosthetic eyes for animals(for cosmetic purposes only) and want to know more. Are there complications? Does it cause discomfort? What kind of care is needed? Is it expensive? Is there a place near Houston, Texas to get this done? Any advice in this area that may help me to make a better decision for him is welcomed. Thank you.
