Gael Monfils, the fast-improving Frenchman, has every chance to knock out Rafael Nadal in the last 16 of the US Open; the Spaniard is too plagued by injury to get back to the top of the rankings.

    Monfils has won 21 of 32 matches this year, while Nadal is only just coming back from a bad injury. Plus, the Spaniard was clearly suffering stomach cramps during his fourth round US Open win. The Frenchman Monfils has an excellent chance to cause a shock.
