Model 28811 series DECT 6.0 cordless phone: Voicemail message remains, and lights continue flashing

Usually after retrieving voicemail, the "NEW VOICEMAIL" on screen disappears, and the lights stop blinking, but today they refuse to reset. How can I reset the phone so that these two issues are resolved?

    More trouble with that GE phone, so bought a new Panasonic. Has many more features, much clearer sounding, got three phones, instead of the two GE sold me, and it only cost $5.00 more than I paid for the GE two years ago. I'll never buy another GE phone! Hope this info helps everyone!
