Minolta BIZHUB 161F error message 'No Network Connection'

when I hit the scan button on the Konica Minolta 161F I immediatly get an error message saying 'No Network Connection'on the screen. I can connect to the machine from my PC and I can see that there is a connection - I am able to ping it. why would I still be getting this message
