Currently, I am not a member of the Anglican Church but I have a sincere interest in the church and its beliefs with the intent of becoming part of a parish. Does the Anglican church have a Maundy &Thursday service? If so, could you explain it? Thanks!

Holy Thursday is another name of Maundy Thursday and it is the beginning of the three day celebration of Easter. This holy celebration of Christians is remembering the last supper, the crucifixion and the death of Jesus, and the Resurrection to new life. On this day, Christians remember the Last meal of Jesus in which Jesus took bread and wine during meal and shared them with his friend. In churches, Christians continue to share bread and wine as part of their worship. Every year on this day, the Queen remained present in a Royal Maundy service in different cathedrals throughout the country. 'Maundy money' is divided to male and female pensioners from local communities near the Cathedral where the Service held. The Maundy money presents in red and white leather pouches. The money in the red pouch is money in lieu of food and clothing while the money present in the white pouch is the Maundy coins. From the fifteenth century the amount of Maundy coins delivered out to the needy people and the number of people receiving the coins, is related to the years of the queen’s life. During 2009, each receiver was given two pouches, the red pouches contained £5 coin celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Accession of Henry VIII and a 50p coin to mark the founding of Kew Gardens, and a white pouch contained 83p in Maundy coins because the Queen is 83 years old this year.
