What do you call a male ladybug? Would it be a Manbug? And also a ladybird. Where do they come up with these names?

Actually, the prefered common name for the lady bug is the ladybird beetle. Bug, used in an entomological sense, refers to a specific lineage of insects that have modified sucking/piercing mouthparts. Assassin bugs, lace bugs, plant bugs, giant water bugs, and such things as water boatmen and backswimmers are so called 'true bugs', but the critters known as lady bugs are actually beetles, in the family Coccinellidae. So the proper term for a male lady bug is actually a male ladybird beetle, or even more properly, a male Coccinellid.
