   The foundation of Dr B. R. Ambedkar University commonly known as Agra University was founded on the 1st of July, 1927 because of continuous efforts of a group of enthusiastic educationists like Rev. Canon A.W. Davis, Munshi Narain Prasad Asthana, Dr L.P. Mathur, Lala Dewan Chand, Rai Bahadur Anand Swaroop and Dr Brajendra Swaroop,. Mian jurisdiction of University extended in Central India and Rajputana. University has 14 affiliated colleges and 2530 students. More than 1475 students belonged to United Provinces. At the start of the Agra University, there were only four faculties in the University which were Arts, Sciences, Commerce and Law. With the passage of time, faculties of Medicine (1936), Agriculture (1938), Home Science (1980), Basic Sciences (1981), Fine Arts (1982) and Management (1994) were added.
   A definite distinctive in affecting the education of an academic institution is the pursuit of excellence and uniform adherence to high benchmark in terms of imparting knowledge and promoting research. Agra University during last eighty three years has tried to retain embracing these high theories and has deployed wealthy traditions and developed honor from the intellectual community. University has sincerely served the cause of imparting higher education in northern India. The ancient defined principles of integration of ethical and moral values in education has been the Endeavor of the Agra University. To inculcate these necessary principles in its pupils academicians have been assiduously attempting to sharpen the content and curriculum of the University.
