    Hind-Limb Weakness This is not an uncommon presentation and has been referred to by ferret owners as "Staggers". However, it is not a single disease but merely a sign that could be attributed to numerous causes including intervertebral disc disease, hypocalcaemia, viral myelitis, Aleutian disease, spinal damage, bone marrow suppression, and dietary imbalances such as thiamine deficiency.
