Lost exam certificates

Im in the same boat as lots of others. I left school in 1987, the school has since closed down. I was recently made redundant and am finding employers asking for copies of past exam certificates. Ive moved house half a dozen times and havent got a clue where they are. Who do I contact for copies??? I live in Newcastle upon Tyne. Help!!!!! Thanx, Debbie
