I had my nipples pierced a little over a year ago and I am planning on taking them out and letting them close up. I want to avoid any scarring or bumps where the holes are, any advice on the best way to do so?

I took out my ring 11 years ago and the hole never closed and just recently became infected!

Hi There, http://piercing.org/faq/pregnancy.html describes this in detail. http://piercing.org/faq/breastfeeding.html explains after the fact. If your jewelry becomes uncomfortable, or you just plain don't want it anymore just wash with soap and water, then undo the jewelry, clean off the tip before you remove it, and that would be that. Later when you decide you miss it, we can dilate the old hole painlessly so that you can wear it again. Best of luck
