   The term "RANG PRAVESH" means a colourful entry.This is the term given to a Graduation in Classical Kathak Dance just like Graduation in Bharat Natyam is called Arengetram. Before the Rang Pravesh is held a ceremony called the Ganda Ceremony is performed where the Guru is worshipped by the disciples and a sacred thread is tied on his hands as a symbol of awe and reverence.The Guru in turn also ties the thread on the disciples hands promising him/her that all the knowledge he has he will impart to the disciple without holding anything back.
