No, it is not a hereditary disease or disorder.Vitiligo is a type of disease that causes depigmentation of patches of skin. Its infection happens when melanocytes, the cells responsible for skin pigmentation, expire or are unable to function. The main reason of vitiligo is not known so far, but science advises that it may stem from autoimmune, genetic, oxidative stress, neural, or viral causes. The cases of this disorder are less than 1%. The mostly found kind is non-segmental vitiligo.
The most common symptom of vitiligo is depigmentation of patches of skin that happens on the extremities. Although patches are originally small, they frequently swell and change shape. When skin lesions occur, they are majority notable on the face, hands and wrists. Depigmentation is especially noticeable circle body orifices, such as the mouth, eyes, nostrils, genitalia and umbilicus. Some lesions have hyper pigmentation around the edges Patients whoever are stigmatized for their condition may experience depression and similar mood disorders.
In non-segmental vitiligo (NSV), there is generally several form of symmetry in the place of the patches of depigmentation. New patches also emerge across time and can be generalized across great portion of the body or local to a specified area. Vitiligo where small pigmented skin remains is referred to as vitiligo universalis. NSV can come approximate at any age, unlike segmental vitiligo, which is far more widespread in teenage years.

    Classes of non-segmental Vitiligo include:
    • Generalized Vitiligo
    • Universal Vitiligo
    • Focal Vitiligo
    • Acrofacial Vitiligo
    • Mucosal Vitiligo
