Is there any proof to say that the Earth isn't falling through space and time?

If you have got this far by clicking my question then i will assume you know what terminal velocity is.

Apply the same to the Earth and all celestial objects so it would appear as if they remain constant in the night sky but could actually be falling at a constant rate relative to our own Earth.

Sensible answers from people who are knowledgeable or interested only please.
