I swear that I've heard that pineapple was actually a nut, not a fruit, but I'm really not sure.

Pineapple is DEFINITELY a fruit! A multiple fruit to be exact.

Those who consider pineapple as a nut are nuts.

The pineapple is a tropical plant and fruit (multiple). The pineapple is an example of a multiple fruit: multiple, spirally-arranged flowers along the axis each produce a fleshy fruit that becomes pressed against the fruits of adjacent flowers, forming what appears to be a single fleshy fruit.
