Question:

Ingersol Rand 185 problems

I have owned an Ingersol Rand 185 tow behind for some time, and it has developed an unusual oil leak. The oil is leaking out of the intake air filter housing on the air end of the compressor. The air end intake has a 90 degree bend coming off the top of the air end, then a 180 degree bend to the filter housing. I don't understand what is making the oil flow against the air flow.
The compressor is used on demand although it stays running for long periods. It spends a large amount of time at idle throttle.
The filter housing intake is not obstructed, and the filter has been changed twice recently.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
