Nessie, the commonly name of the Loch Ness monster, is supposed to be a prehistoric creature called a plesiosaur, which is an animal that spanned up to ten meters in length and has long been considered to be extinct. The measurements of this monster are also predicted to be about is 12-15 m (40-50 ft), while having a long, snake-like neck.
It is popularly believed to be female. The British Loch Ness Project has spent over 30 years trying to rationally explain the monster sightings by researching the ecology of the region.
Sightings have been sporadic over the centuries, but in the 20th century Nessie has been more active, which has had a profound effect on local business in Scotland. It is believed that 1933 was the year when the first photograph was taken of the monster, or what could be the monster. It showed something with a long neck arched over a thick body, but all these facts and predictions are vague.
