Okay so i turn on the computer and it shows the processor information on the front screen and it detects the IDE drives. Sometimes it freezes on this stage so i reset the computer.
Then a few more tries later it may go a bit further than that, asking me how i wish to start the computer up so i click on 'Start Windows Normally'
Rarely after this it gets past the Windows XP Loading Logo to my desktop, where again it freezes.
My boot devices keep being reset so i thought it could be a cmos chip error but i have changed the chip and still the same things are happening.
I am getting an error on the front screen though now saying something like 'ID channel 1 no 88 conductor' and i get a BSOD every so often! Could it be that i need a new motherboard? had this one for a while now
