hello. I have a Corolla, 2003 vintage that's a dream. A scion is by Toyota, as is Lexus. I do not drive as much as I once did. A KIA is maybe a good car too. If you're buying new, most cars have phenomenal warranties. good luck with your choice.

I just purchased a Scion XD (made by Toyota).....so far, I love it......low cost ($15,350 with auto trans).....and high mpg's 27/34......fits 4 adults very comfortably....nice cargo space....

This little car come standard with alot of options that other dealers charge extra for.....

IMO this car is the better looking twin to the Honda Fit for a little less money.....

Forget Hybrids

Prius $21,500. msrp [dlr. Price probably higher]

Matrix $16,190. msrp [can probably be bought for less]

Extra cost of hybrid [min.]: $5,310.

Prius mpg [per owners] 42.

10,000[avg. annual mileage]/42mpg=238gal. per year

238X $4. per gal. = $952. annual fuel cost

Matrix advertised mpg 21city, 29 hwy. (21+29)/2=25mpg average

10,000[avg. annual mileage]/25mpg= 400 gal. per year

400gal. X $4. per gal. = $1,600. annual fuel cost

$1,600. - $952. = $648. annual fuel savings w/Hybrid

$5,310. {extra cost}/ $648. {annual savings}= 8.2 years to break even. By which time, with changing technology, it will be too costly to maintain & have no resale value.

Look for good deals on Suzuki, Subaru, etc. they tend to be overlooked. ALWAYS run a carfax & have the vehicle inspected by an inspection company like carchex or mechanic.

Toyota and Honda are the most reliable

In regards to Hybrids........my wife was pushing for a Prius,

to replace the 800 or 8000 volt battery that runs the thing,

without installation........$3213.95........that was at Germain Toyota in Naple Florida.......nfw........

She has a new Civic EX and is happy.......gas not hybid
