I live in NYC. I have a roommate who is a problem. She is not on the lease, nor does she have a subletting agreement or deposit. She has been living there for over 30 days. We have been having some major issues. Nobody (there are 3 other people including myself) can talk to her about anything without her becoming confrontational. In a fit of temper she told me that she was going to leave at the end of August giving us 7 days notice. I could care less because I want her gone. However, as of the 31st she told us that she is not leaving. FIrst, I want to know, can we raise the rent? My husband has only been making her pay a tiny amount because he felt bad for her (her job pays nothing) and it doesn't really cover utilities. Second, how do I write a 30 day notice? And third, do I really need to give her a 30 day notice since she technically told me herself that she was moving?
