    You can determine it by testing its pH level .
    Scientifically, pure water is supposed to have hydrogen content (PH) of 7. A liquid with a PH below 7 is acidic and one that has a PH above 7 is basic. As alkaline is the base, water is said to be alkaline when it has a potential for hydrogen of more than 7.
