It should chime every quarter hour. First quarter chimes one time. Second quarter twice and third quarter three times and on the hour four times and will chime the number of times for that hour. I do not knoq how to set the chimes. There are four buttons on the back. Two for the Min. and Two for the hours, I thought. Help!

Ok I just got one of these clocks! It takes a size D battery. If yours is a Tochigi Tokie Co. Quartz movement this is simple. From the left is the on/off-auto switch, then there is the start/set, two hour buttons we will call them a/b, and two minute buttons c/d. set the correct time on the hands-move the start button to set-using military time 1:00pm being 13. Push button A once(1) and the B button 3 times, this will set the time to 1300 hrs or 1:00pm. Then set the minutes lets say its 1315 hrs. Push C button once (1), and D button 5 times. this is 1315 hrs. Now set the switch to start. The on off switch will let your turn the chime off and on or set to auto it will only chime during the day 6am-11pm. Good Luck!

I am having the same problem.  Intuitive adjustment of the hours and mins. doesn't work.
