I need to find a way to have an updated backup folder on the desktop, identical to the original in my flash usb drive.

I tried to use the windows briefcase, but I find my backup folder full of undeleted empty folders. I tried to use the Sync Center of Windows Vista, but it seems worthless to me (is it really only about Media Player and networks?)

I don't use any network. My files are really important and they have nothing to do with Media Player (most of them are .doc .ppt .xls .txt and .htm). I have them all in a folder on the desktop (not in the folder MyDocument) and in a folder in my flash usb drive (in case something happen to my pc). The size of this folder is about 3 GB.

Every time I changed something, I used to do this: rename the backup folder, copy the original, paste it in the same location as the old (renamed) backup folder and delete the old one.

I don't know much about computers. I am tottally new to the consept of synchronization and I don't really know the difference between synchronization and replication... Please help
