How to date a Sohmer upright Piano

The serial no "6875 # 7" It was given to my grand mother and passed on to my mother who had stored it for the last 25 years after having it refurbished in Montreal by "Boutique du piano Montreal" I was told it built in 1882. I would like to find the story behind it, it is a very nice piece, but I need to have all the hammers changed the ivory keys redone and some of the mechanisme - it must be costly... hmmm.
