Sazerac Cocktail is a refreshing to drink cocktail which is very simple to prepare. The interesting history behind this amazing cocktail shows Antoine Amedee Peychaud, a Creole apothecary from the French colony of Saint-Domingue, came up with a Sazerac Cocktail when he mixed Cognac with his own Peychaud bitters. It took its time to gain popularity and it was then the signature beverage of the Sazerac Coffee House New Orleans in 1859, where it was given this name. Initially, cognac was the main ingredient of the Sazerac Cocktail but it was later replaced with a rye whiskey. The reason behind this major substitution is not yet known. Customarily, the Sazerac Cocktail is served in a medium sized rock or an old-fashioned cocktail glass. However, majority of us use other cocktail glasses as well.
