Cradle Cap Cradle cap commonly affects newborns and is fairly easy to diagnose on sight due to the thick, yellow, crusty, scaly patches that appear on your baby's head. Cradle cap can be treated by keeping your baby's head clean using a mild baby shampoo and combing through your baby's hair with a soft bristle brush in order to loosen the scaly skin. Your doctor can properly diagnose cradle cap upon inspection of your baby's scalp. Cradle cap often goes away on its own within a few weeks to a few months. Milia According to the Mayo Clinic,miliaria crystallina, or simply milia, are tiny white bumps on a baby's nose, chin or cheeks. Babies are often born with milia and can be diagnosed with it upon sight by your baby's doctor. Although milia often goes away on its own, you can help treat your baby's skin by taking a soft wash cloth and gently washing her face on a daily basis with warm water and moisturizing soap that is specially formulated for babies. Baby Acne Baby acne usually affects babies within the first four weeks of life. This type of rash appears as small red or white bumps in the areas of the cheeks and forehead. Consult your doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment of baby acne. Baby acne will often heal quickly. You can help treat your baby's skin by washing their face with a soft, warm, wet washcloth and moisturizing soap. Avoid using oils and lotions on your baby's face.
