How old is my gold ring

my ring has been passed down through generations it is a gold band which apparantly had a buckle on it but it wore away through the years. the hall mark is VWA 9 .375 an anchor pointing < at a 90' angle and then an Italic S. Can anyone give me any info about the origin of this ring or how old it could be all I know is that it is 9kt.
