How can I make an adult dragon costume?

   Select the color of your dragon and buy sweat pants and a hooded sweatshirt in this color.

   Adorn the belly of the dragon with scales. Cut out several oval shapes from felt or a shiny material.

   Make spikes for the dragon's back. Cut triangular shapes out of the felt or other material

   Give your dragon wings. Sew a triangle of the sheer material to the sides of the sweatshirt and the undersides of the sleeves.

   Make a dragon tail. This should be another triangular shape, only much thinner and longer than the spikes in the previous step.

   Make the dragon's head. Cut shapes for eyes and a mouth out of the red, white and black felt. Sew the eyes onto the top of the hood and the mouth onto the very lip of it.

   You can attach a tail to either costume. I think for the head, it's easiest to make a type of hat and then attach the scales to it and whatever else you want.
   
   There are a lot of fabric choices you can use. Depending on what look you want, there are a lot of green fabrics and you can even find some irridescent fabric to use as an overlay. You can also make with/without horns, wings, etc....
   
   Here is a pattern for a child that you can enlarge if you feel confident enough to do so, or if you are petite you may fit into it!
