Hoover spincscrub spring loaded stopper at the bottom of the detergent tank dropped out - HELP.

I have a Hoover carpet spincscrub whose spring loaded stopper at the bottom of the detergent tank dropped out. Is there any special way to put it back in? I love the machine and hope I can do this myself as I am on a fixed income.
