Question:

Hobart welder handler 175 shutting down

My hobart mig welder will weld for five or six seconds then shut down. If I wait for two or three seconds it will restart and go through the same pattern. Am I right in believing that it may be the thermal protection circuit getting bad ??

    sounds like it, have you tried wiring around the thermal protection circuit?
