Hitchcock table is made by a specially refined wood. You have to take good care of furniture for your home so that it lasts long and if you want a beautiful piece of furniture. You have to give extra attention to the furniture and polish it so that it stays with you for a long period of time.
Polishing is the best way to make your furniture last long, not only it lasts long but it also gives a nice look. First you have to select good quality furniture polish. Then you can wax your furniture with a paste style wax and do it every six to twelve months as needed. You first have to remove old wax that is on the furniture by using a non alkaline soap mixed with water. You can weekly polish your furniture, it will be good for you.
There are different types of wood available which are named as
    Dark Wood:
If you have dark wood then you need to find the polish which matched the lightest shade of the finish. If the product is scratched then you can use a walnut. Rub it in the direction of scratch.

    Cherry Wood:
Woods that have cherry finish need a little different solution. You can use a wood or shoe polish of different colors. If there is a bigger scratch then you can use some darkened iodine and you can apply it with a cotton swab. Make sure the colors match well here.
