Help needed: phone hangs when turned on

Dear LG, I'm using a GT-505 cell phone. I have a problem which is, I am unable to use the phone when it's turned on -- it hangs, and nothing can be done except to remove the battery from the back to turn off the phone. I need help, please. Thank you very much.
