I have a 74 super beetle, the car will run great for about 10 minutes and then start to have problems before it finally dies. I take the spark plugs out and have a fuel smell on them. I can clean the plugs, put them back in and the problem starts all over again. Nobody in the VW section but I figure an engine problem can be solved by another mechanic also. Please help.....

This problem is very common in Beetle, car will only run for ten min or so and then stops. And when you have o look at the plugs you find oil on the plugs.

Basically this problem is caused when the oil cooler is not working properly which makes the oil to reach to the plugs. You need to check out the oil cooler. And what you need to check do is to check weather the oil is reaching the oil cooler or not other wise it enter's into the piston and finally reaches to plugs.
I think your problem will be fixed because a friend of mine is having the same car and the same problem was there in his car and after very long examination he reached to the problem. Now his car runs nice and smooth. And one more thing this car needs extra bit of care than other car's because they are quite old models and you know old needs proper and special care.
