6-foot ladder to climb up so I could reach the alarm at the top of a 12 foot ceiling. Replaced the battery after bleeding the detector for 20 seconds using the reset button. Replaced the detector with a new battery and it's still blinking an intermittent red not to mention how I feel after going up and down a ladder for about 6 times.
