Finding the balance between skiing in Mount Tremblant and Old Quebec City

We're sharing a combined family trip of 6 adults and three small children looking enjoy the Winter Carnival and do a little skiing as we've been advised by a trusted skier that Mont Sainte Anne isn't as forgiving. Not sure where the best half way point would be that family friendly to hire a house on a bit of a budget.
