They are grayinsh-white and I have seen them outside on the window sill, in the bathroom shower stall and tubs, as well as around the bathroom and kitchen sink area. They are also on the bathroom heating baseboards (whatever you call it} and have seen a couple on the basement carpet. I once found a package of diaper wipes under the bed in the basement guest room and when I opened it, there were there, on the wipes. ARGH! I usually see them in the summer. They can jump. When I kill them, I get a black dust-like substance on the tissue. I looked on the net and even on this site and you explain it as a springtail. But these bugs don"t have an antenna as long. The pics of springtails just don"t look like these. Their bodies are about 1/8" long and the antenna curves outward and is really tiny. Please help!? What are they and how do I get rid of them!!!! I kept thinking they were in fact ticks, but my mom said that they probably weren't since they can be squished. They apparently like corners and dark places.... They look a bit like beetles, but look a bit more like a sowbug underneath (like a similar number of legs) & not very long antenna, and with the strangest single white stripe going horizontally across their backs. I also keep finding these other smaller bugs, could be a young version of what I have mentioned above. They are very small, but appear to look a bit like very tiny millipedes but with fewer and well hidden legs (kind of tucked underneath the body) and more chubby segments with defined ridges inbetween. I have vacuumed the floor but found one dead the day after. They probably have something to do with the stuffy atmosphere in my room, because I also use the room to do body building and regularly get very sweaty. I don't know if they are getting browner or not, but I am noticing/worrying more.  They are not crusty or infected.  They look just like his other scales, but are brown. We took him to a vet last week, for a check-up, and the vet said his color was beautiful.  But I'm paranoid enough to wonder, knowing this vet is not a herp specialist. Our iguana eats and poops every day. I don't notice that he drinks, though we have a fairly large bowl of fresh water in his cage. He seems to enjoy being handled and has a good level of activity.  He does not act sick in any way. What do you think? Thanks! One of my females regularly started attacks on some of the weaker dogs and most of the others would join in to the frenzy. I was always able to stop it. A week ago, I was gone from home for 1 1/2 hrs when one of my chis was killed by the others. I knew who had started the attack and found blood on the ones that participated. I immediately placed the Alpha female and felt that all would be fine. Today I was gone for 1 hour and her sister was killed by the other dogs. There are 3 that I believe are responsible. I have never heard of this happening??? I am truly heartbroken and at a loss. LOVE MARIA Thu, 07 Apr 2011 04:56:00 GMThttp://www.maybenow.com/Parrotlet-help-q5294201http://www.maybenow.com/Parrotlet-help-q5294201Thursday we got our first parrotlet.  We have a cat, but have not exposed Quizno (the bird) to it.  The pet store did not know exactly how old he is, they think about a year.  He is a Pacific, bites and is very reserved.  He does not seem to be eating much at all, even though I change his food and water (bottled) every day.  He does not want to play or do anything much but eat millet.  His cage is about 18x18x24.  The original cage we got him with was less than 12x12.  He will take broccoli from my fingers as well as bread, but does not seem to swallow.  The pet sore was out of his type of food and I got him a small hookbill pellet mix he would not eat.  Then I got him cockatiel seed mix.  He does not make much noise.  The first day he chirped a lot, but now he chirps less.  His eyes seem bright and he does not appear to have loose bowels or a cold. (then they would release it) On monday morning he noticed that it had layed eggs ona twig we had put in the jar. Two rows of seven overlapping white "cantalope seeds". we took it to the class where they will still release the katydid but we want to keep the eggs and see if they hatch.  Do you have any advice on how to support the eggs? thank you. My ferret is being treated for a gastric ulcer. We are giving him subQ fluids every 12 hours. PeptoBismol 1ml., Amoxilin .5ml, and Metronidaz .5ml every 8 hours. 1/4 of a 10gram Prisolec pill crushed on his Ferretvite, once a day. We sirynge feed him  about  12ml of his ferret food, made into soup every three hours, and 6 to 9 ml of Pedyalite every three hours. We did this until he went back to his dry kibbles. Today, nine days after starting him on medicine, and seeing him back to life and VERY active, and playing with us like never before, he started vomiting again. At first, during the day, nothing came out. But now at night, a little water did come out. We are very lost now. The vet we go to, doesn't seem to know or care very much about ferrets. Unfortunately, we've spent everything we could have. She did x-rays, and didn't see any intestinal blockage. Our house is very ferret proof. He had even managed to gain some weight back. At least it looked that way. I going to start him on sirynge feeding again, because I don't think an empty tummy goes well with an ulcer. I gave him 9ml of Pedyalite after he vomited, and some Ferretvite and someLaxatone. Please help us. You are the only one my wife and I can go to for help right now. We are willing to fight for our baby's life! Oh, he is a little over two years old, weighed in at 2.3 pounds at the vet, due to the weight loss, and is an Albino. I have two pups who are around 6 months old (male & female). At about 4 months we had both dogs trained to the litter box. Now the female is flawless and the male has started making bold mistakes with urination. He always makes it to his box for number 2, but number 1 is about 50% on a bad day and 75% - 90% on a good day. The 90% only comes from the times he puts his front paws in the box and urinates on the side of the box. He knows what he is doing.....so can you help me? My wife and I would be willing to see you personally. We would be interested in classes as well. I don't see any signs of comedomes, nor does an ultraviolet inspection reveal any sign of fungus. My vet simply recommended spraying cortisone solution on the patches, but I don't see any relief. I did notice that the patches started developing after a cyst broke open at the end of his tail, and I THOUGHT I noticed some improvement when I administered a short course (2 weeks) of Keflex for an unrelated condition. Most of the patches seem to develop on his underside (belly and chest) as well as areas around his tail on the rump. Any help would be appreciated, as the poor fellow seems to be quite miserable a lot of the time. They don't seem to cluster up or move in large groups, but every time I wipe them with a towel and flush them, more come back to the same place. They seem to like my sink, the top of my toilet, and almost every part of my shower. I've sprayed all sorts of cleaning chemicals around these areas and they just keep coming back. I'm going to try some different bug sprays today, but I would really like to know just what they are in case this happens again. Like I said, they are the size of a pinhead or a period. They seem to be brown with a red tint. From what I can tell they have about (I would guess, due to the size) six legs. They may have antenna, it's hard to tell if that's what those are in the front or if they're just more legs. They move at a moderate rate. Not fast, but not slow. About as fast as an ant. They're clingy, so if they find something they like (skin or a towel, or really anything but tiles), they can be hard to get off. They don't group in masses or mounds, but do like to hang out in the same places. Typically each spot will have about 20-30 of these things, depending on how long it's been since I've wiped them up. It's been about five days now since I first noticed these things. I don't have any photos as of yet, nor do I have anyway of looking at this closer than I have. I hope my information isn't too vague. Thanks for taking the time to read over my problem. Which leads to another concern: he is still eating his feces!  I had caught him doing it when he was on the wet food also, but not as often.  Now if I turn my back on him for just a few minutes, he will defecate and immediately start eating his feces.  I try to keep a close watch on him and keep his potty area clean, but I am away from home for at least 4 hours a day.  I came home early today and caught him in the act and scolded him.
