signature
Dear Daniel, I have inherited a few oil paintings , and am trying to identify the signatures, and see what they might be worth. I wonder if you could help me identify the signatures, and any information about the artist or value.Since I can only send one image, I am only sending the signature. Any help is greatly appreciated. I can send you a picture of the painting , if that will help after you have the time to respond. Thank you, John Schrewe

She began pointe in June with two 90 minute classes a week. Her first pair of shoes (Principal J's)lasted for 10 classes. In our community there is one dance store with limited brands. These were the ones that fit her foot. Ok so they weren't very strong shoes. Her teachers say she has a strong arch. She also has a high arch and narrow heel. With a death in the family, we were out of town last week and found another store with more brands and styles. She probably tried 20 shoes - various brands, styles, and sizes. What fit and felt very well was Block Axiom. After 4 classes, the block is soft and the shank is breaking. What now? None of the other beginning pointe students have broken down their shoes yet. The older girls at the studio are offering advice to brands to try but all of them get by with 2-3 pair per year. We are willing to drive to Chicago but don't know what to look for.

another reverse glass painting of a castle

I've also been looking for any information on a painting from my grandparents house (Irish) that is now in my possession. It is also a moody painting on glass, mother of pearl in the forefront on 2 stones, black, 2 dimensional fence upfront and far back by castle. It is nighttime but the moon is bright and sky is blue around it, and the moon and some windows of the castle also have mother of pearl in them. I just noticed for the first time in the lower left of the painting next to the front rectangular stones is a small patch of what is probably water. There are 2 large trees that frame the caste and path to the castle. The frame is ornate and probably the original but it's not heavy. I am 45 and my grandparents are long passed, and I am assuming an "Irish" connection but not sure. It isn't signed and I haven't found anything on the back but hesitate to open it up to see. Any info would be appreciated. thanks

WHY IS HUMANITIES A SOCIAL SCIENCE?

FA result Gujranwala board

epekto ng heograpiya sa uri ng kanilang pamumuhay

paki sagot naman po ito Pls...

Are there any spells to become a fairy or mermaid?

if you are going to be one of those people who is going to say mermaids and fairies aren't real then don't answer.

looking for the result of mu.ac.in/idol f.y.b.a.2010 seat 0178

What is the relationship of arts to humanities

writing a book?

I am writing a story but i'm stuck! I'm becky and i am 14 and started ballet about a year ago now, very late starter blatantly. I am currantly doing two grades, grade three which i am taking my exam for in November and i have just started grade 4 as well. My teacher says that at the end of grade four is when she can put people on pointe is she feels they are ready and says i might be by that time. I really want to be 100% ready for it so she doesn't doubt making that decision, it has been my ultimate goal to go on pointe! So i was just wondering what excercises/Things can i do to make sure i get there!
Thankyou for your time :)

I started taking a ballet class 3 years ago, just for fun. Then last year I decided that I really enjoyed dance, and that I would love to perform as a career. The thing is that I am also passionate for most other Theatre type callings, Acting, song, musical theatre... that type of thing. I really love it all, and I love so much to dance. I had everything figuress out in my mind... I could go get good solide classical training now, while I am still young, taht I will be able to carry over into whatever performing career I may choose at some point. Im straight out of highschool, and now I am studying at a professional school. The thing is though, taht I have Sooo much I need to learn which is fine, im more then willing... but I find myself really strugling, strugling just to get the exercises let alone do them well. Ive been going at it for about 2 months now, and I've really noticed that I have no desire to go to class, Its lost all it's flair. I'm not sure if it's the drilling technique or my confusion but im really not enjoying myself. It's strange because, I used to love staying at the studio training late into the night... but now I just cant wait for class to be over. What's wrong?
I know I have to decide whats right for me, but I hate to think that maybe I am not supposed to be training like this. I really want to be a strong classical dancer, but I don't know if the problem is with the ballet, or if it's all in my head. To make things worse, I'm starting to worry that if I decide that Ballet is not for me, that this very negativity will carry over into other domains that I want to train for such as Theatre.... I just don't know...

I'm just looking for some insight... thanks

dear theodora,
im fifteen this year,i dont really take ballet extremely seriously, but after i saw a polina semionova's video clip, she inspired me to work harder.tell me how can i get fit and somewhat become thinner like polina, and how do i improve my arch,i do admit though i am not born for ballet, but i take modern dance and tap classes, but now i really want to give my best at being a ballerina.please help.

Answer -
Get into as many ballet classes per week as possible with a serious teacher who teaches technique, even if you have to change studios to do it. How you progress depends entirely on how hard you work and how much time you are willing to devote to practicing outside of classes.
It's counterproductive to try and compare yourself to anyone else, although very fine to have a goal. Although the Russian schools only train people with a certain body type, there are fine dancers of all different heights and proportions. Were you to see Ms Semionova in person, you would be surprised at how different she looks from the video, she is extremely muscular rather than skeletally thin.
Any athlete needs to take care of their instrument--their body. Stop eating junk food, drink water (lots of it) not sodas, eat protein at every meal, lots of vegetables and fruit. DO NOT SKIP MEALS.
Work hard in classes. If you tell me your town I might be able to recommend a good teacher.

What is the stage to dance on pointe?

My daughter is 8 years old. She has been taking ballet class since she was three years old, and recently auditioned and made the Dance Company at a local studio. My daughter wants to be on pointe, and the teacher correctly explained that she will let her know when she is ready. Is there any way possible a ballet instructor would say an eight year old is ready for pointe? My daughter has been competing in skating since she was four, and now takes 4 dance classes and an acro class every week. Just curious. We were browsing this website, and she wanted to ask this question. Thanks so much!

What is the position of head in ballet?

I am in an intermediate ballet class, and I just do not see anywhere written out the actual rules of where your head goes on certain steps? I stopped intense training at the age of 19 as my legs were very bowed (about a 15cm gap between the legs standing feet together in parallel). However I had very good technique, expression and a well proportioned, slender body. The only thing wrong was the bowed legs, and all my teachers said it would be no good trying to get into a professional school/company as straight legs are essential for a dancer. I accepted this and still do, but was wondering whether you, as a professional yourself, know of any successful ballerinas with bowed legs? Or if it is such a great 'disability' in the ballet world? I'm just curious to know what a professional viewpoint would be.
Thank you very much for your time, I look forward to reading your reply.

What is the ideal weight for ballet?

I'm 13, 5'3 and weigh 113 pounds. Question -
Hi i am a 27 year old male who is wanting to learn adult ballet but i dont know what i would need to wear i have heard peop;e say that all men who do ballet must put on and wear a padded dance belt a support cup footed tights leotard and ballet shoes but what is a dance belt and what is the support cup for also i am looking for adult ballet classes in oxford please can you help i really want to learn but can i at this age

Answer -
Men wear a dance belt for appearance and security under their tights. A dance belt is like a jock strap cut a little differently. You probably don't need a cup. You can get a dance belt at any dancewear store. You will need ballet shoes; men typically wear white, black, or grey, never pink. You can wear tights with or without feet. If you get without feet wear socks.(You could ask your teacher about wearing sweatpants instead of tights for your first few classes if you would feel more comfortable, but you will want to get tights if you continue.) They do make leotards for men--cut very differently from womens and worn under your tights rather than over them like womens--or you can wear a t-shirt and tights. You will need a belt of some sort for your waist--pull the tights up high and then roll them over the belt. Your teacher or any male dancer can help you with this, also people at the dancewear store. I can't personally recommend a school in Oxford, but start with schools attached to a professional company. Most schools will have a beginning adult class and they will be very happy to have a man in class. They may also have a beginning men's class. Work hard! Good luck!

How should I dress to see a performance?

Hello.

I am 13 years old. Four years ago, a piano teacher told my mom that if I started piano lessons then, in three months I would be at about the same level as the kids who started when they were six.

She was absolutely right. Because I started when I was older, more mature, and more "ready," I took off and progressed so rapidly that now I am one of her most advanced students. Also, because it was something I wanted to do, there was never a day when my mom had to remind me to practice.

All things being equal, is the same thing true about going on pointe? I've had five years of solid ballet training ..... took one year off .... then went back and started pointe last fall. Although I was training six hours a week, we only spent the last few minutes of each class on pointe.

Now I fear I'm a year behind the other girls my age who've been training straight through, even though I spent five weeks in a summer intensive.

I'm strong and focused, though not too flexible. I learn the combinations very quickly. I play two instruments and have very good musicality. I have a burning desire to do more dancing on pointe!

How long will it take before I can do what my more experienced peers can do? Will I ever "catch up?"

-----Question-----
Hi I'm 19 years old and i just started taking ballet classes. I saw a ballet performance and that sparked something inside me and i have totally fallen in love with ballet. I am willing to dance hours and hours a day every day of the week.
I was wondering if it is infarct too late for me to start ballet. and how realistic is it to want a career in dancing? and also what classes would you recommend i take a week and how many and how soon do you think it would take to get to a level where i could maybe even enroll in a ballet school? Also, i wanted to know how soon can one start Pointe classes?
Thanks soo much!
-----Answer-----
Get into as many ballet classes per week as possible with a serious teacher who teaches technique. It is impossible to say how fast any one person will progress as there are so many variables. You will have to devote time every day to practice at home. See all the performances you can, live hopefully, but videos too, and read as much as you can. Take jazz or modern classes also--again, a good teacher is imperative. You will have to work very hard. Actually, success in the dance world is mostly hard work and focused intent. You will know more about your timeline after you are in classes for awhile. Follow your bliss. Remember: find a good teacher!!

likas na yaman ng hilagang asya

What is the right age to start pointe?

HI! Im 13 and I started ballet in August. The dance director put me in ballet 3 because she didn't want me to be with the little kids in ballet 1&2, and I had no dance experience. Well, after 2 months, I started to like ballet.(im taking ballet to help improve my spins in figure skating) Now, for the past month, I've been going on the computer looking for stuff about pointe. Pointe seems really interesting and I want to start. But is it too early? I think im kind of ready because I could stand on the tips of my toes with ballet slippers on, and I have strong ankles because im a figure skater. For christmas, I want my own pair of pointe shoes so I can do pointe at home. What should I do?

The Blue Men Group

are you familiar at all with those three guys who paint their faces blue and appear on the pentium III processor commercials? I had heard that they are performers up north somewhere. Do you have any more information about them or could you direct my question to someone who would know? thanks a lot

How many great ballets for a newbie to watch?

Im an 18 year old guy and a senior in highschool.Im really interested in starting ballet.Unfortunately i only discovered Ballet properly at this stage in my life.I was wondering if its possible for me to go for classes and perfect the technique in a couple of years time even though i dont really want to do it proffesionally?

What is the best weight for a ballet dancer?

Hi my name is Rachel and I am 14 years old. I study ballet in Manhattan, 6 times a week and I am pretty advanced. I am 5 5" and weigh about 95 or 96 pounds. Everyone of my teachers say I have a good body and feet, but I feel my thighs are huge. I work out like 4 times a week on my mothers elliptical machine, and I cant loose any weight off my thighs. I am not swayed back, my knees are hyper extended, and I stretch my hip flexors and quads every day. I have a very lean and skinny upper body, but my butt, and thighs are so big. In ballet class my teachers are always telling me to use my inner thigh muscles and I use them for turnout and stability, but I don't like how big they are! Is it natural for dancers to have muscular thighs? Because I want mine to be smaller and not bulky. My thighs are not really big, I just wish they were skinnier. Please help me.

What are the perfect turns in ballet dance?

I'm 14 years old and I've been dancing for about 10 years and I've been doing ballet exams for 7 years. 1. When picking music what should a choreographer go by? the audience they want to appeal to, their likes, or other...

2. Do most choreographers choreograph their dance first then find music to fit it or do they find music and make the steps fit?

When I was a little girl, I took ballet for a very short time (I was too shy), so my mother took me out of class. Ever since I got to my late teens (I am nineteen now), I've regretted not persuing ballet. A friend of mine and I are going to start taking classes, and as long as I improve, I want to keep taking classes. My question is: is it a silly idea to try to make it into a career? Or even just as a beginning to start a career in any sort of dance? I've been wanting to take any type of dance classes for a long time, and figured ballet was the only form of dance I'm tailor-made for because I'm 4'11".

I know that a brisse generally lands on two feet and a brisse vole one. But what is the brisse that takes off rt. foot back and lands rt. foot back in coupe? I never saw it when I danced but since been teaching one of our teachers teaches it that way then I can never get them to land two feet. The problem is, the only ones I can find on the web are all pointe shoes, which poses a few problems; A) They're more expensive than the basic ballet shoes I see around, and B) will they be comfortable enough for her to wear as normal shoes for 8-12 straight hours for a full weekend?

Also, I've read about dyeing the shoes, and satin is the only fabric I've found information on. Any idea how to dye other fabrics? Also, is there a term for the laced shoes that we want, so I can specifically search for them?

Do you think it is to much? She is not on pointe or anything like that, she just takes conditioning for ballet for like 2 hours is still that too much? She use to train rhythmic gymnastics and it was like 3 hours a day of intense stretching and running.

I was wondering if like maybe the main character would have to go into space with the aliens, cause they're going to blow up the world or something, but I'm not sure if that sounds too normal (like for something an alien would do.) It would most likely be set in Iowa or Kansas.

Also, I would most likely write this story from the main characters point of veiw, and they'd probably be about 14 or 15, but here are some ideas for main characters (both boy and girl):

Odette Lantoni: female, tree hugger (loves the enviornment & animals), olive green eyes, straight black hair (shoulder length), darkly tanned skin (maybe italian?), has an athletic figure, determined when she sets her mind to something, loves volleyball, and has a pet Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (name?)

Adair Blake: female, stick-straight blonde hair (usually up in a ponytail or pigtails),perrywinkle eyes, freckle-faced, is a vegetarian, father died in the war, won't pass up an oppourtunity to go shopping, and is extremely open-minded to new ideas and opinions.

Ambrose Taylor: male, brown eyes, very darkly tanned skin (thinking mexican maybe?), is a "sportsatic" mainly soccer, has a crush on one of the aliens he meets (sounds weird but the whole book will be different so bare with me), has never seen his mother, and has a pet turtle (name?)

Keenan Lewis: male, easily irritated, medium skin color, father is American, mother is Japanese, hazel-eyed, extremely artistic, girlfriend died of Leukemia two years earlier (so that may lead him to fall in love with an alien as well)

Okay, that's about all I've got. If you don't care for one of the character's names, but like their personality, you can give me some other names that you'd prefer. Another thing, if you think two characters could be in the story together, that's cool.

REMEMBER: whoever eventually is chosen, I'll still need a plot (like the world blowing up like I said earlier)
