How you feed your employees is really different in a lot of places...there is no set policy but most states have set policy on breaks and meal periods so check carefully with your state labor board for the regulations. FAMILY MEAL - I have used the Family Meal approach before which is basically that at a designated time between lunch and dinner shift the chef produces a bulk meal for all employees that wish it. If you miss family meal you miss out on any discounted meal for the day. This is easy to account for as you take a set $ amount each day to apply to employee meals DISCOUNTED MEALS - Most common for my usage, employees get to select from a list of approved items off the menu and they get a set discount if they are working, I have seen 25% off up to 50% off...employee must be working and may or may not be allowed to take this meal home. OFF DUTY MEALS - Some restaurants like to offer a discount to any staff that is employed by the company to encourage employees to bring guests into the restaurant. Again I have seen many different % but it should be less than the On Duty Discount mentioned above. Hope this helps.
