I'm looking to buy my own set of weights but don't know exactly which kind to choose. The two biggest contenders I've seen are dumbbells and kettlebells. I've heard pros and cons of both, such as how kettlebells supposedly train grip strength or offer some exercises that dumbbells can't. I've also heard that they are expensive, clumsy and down right dangerous to the user. Also some pretty stupid sales pitches come with the kettlebells, boasting terms like "tactical strength," and "the super-secret, never before seen training tool of the most elite special forces ever." Yeah... if someone would be so kind as to cut through all the hype on either side and give me their experiences (preferably with both), that would be much appreciated. I'm looking for the cheapest solution.
