Holding double reins while riding a horse is not an easy task, and it require allot of concentration, and skill, in order to attain the mastery over this art. Here are the following three steps through which you can improve your chances of controlling the horse by holding double reins while riding. First pick up the Pelham rein leaving the snaffle rein in a normal way, you held it before. Now carefully place your fingers on the reins, as if you are about to pick up a teacup, and wrap the reins across your pinky and fourth finger and your thumb and index finger. Keep your three middle fingers on top of the reins, your pinky should be below and your thumb should also be on top of the rein. Your thumb should be pointed in the direction toward the horse's ears, so that the extra loop of the reins should move from the path of your thumb. Now, while holding the Pelham reins, lift the snaffle rein. Snaffle rein should also be held in the same manner as the Pelham rein, snaffle rein should be layered on top of the Pelham rein. Make sure that your snaffle rein is under your pinky and your thumb, while holding the snaffle rein like the Pelham. During the process of riding make sure that your reins are even.
