Some species of water turtles eat snails, they are commonly known as pond turtles and marsh turtles. Where as they belong to the Emydidae family. The family Emydidae includes around 50 species in ten genra. Some of these species are strictly carnivorous and some are strictly herbivorous. The carnivores feed on annelids, crustaceans, and fish. In several species, there is a shift from carnivores in juveniles to herbivores in adults. Water turtles lose most of there eggs and nest to small mammals like raccoons. All species of emdidae family lay eggs and hatchlings. Size of the turtle does not mean that it can have bigger things to eat. Some speicies of water turtles are famous among people as pets. They keep them in their aquariums. Turtles are fun to be watched from the top, as they are on the cute side of things. The water turtle like the tortoise move in there. The Emydidae are most closely related to the tortoises. Emydids are the turtles most commonly sold through the pet trade. The pond slider (Trachemys scripta) has expanded its range through the careless release of pets into the wild. Many Asian species are threatened by over-collection of animals for sale in markets and into the pet trade.
