Does an SDHC card work as an SD card (which is what the manual recommends) in a Vivicam 8025 ?

Hi, I just purchased an 8025, and after inserting an 4 GB sdhc card, it says card is full when trying to make a pic, what could be the problem? I've tried formatting the card, but it doesn't allow this, or I'm not doing it properly, what else can I do?
