   We do not inhale in nitrogen during the process of respiration. Many of our body components use nitrogen as a vital component.

   Hi, The atmosphere is 21% oxygen and the rest is almost entirely nitrogen. We as humans would over oxygenate our blood to lethal levels if nitrogen was not present. Our lungs do not absorb the nitrogen, but it keeps the ratio at the desired level. Thanks
